N: In October I got to explore something new, but you had already been there.
R: Yup! We went to a “mini” reunion with some of my roommates from Gustavus Adolphus College. I missed our “official” reunion last spring. But I wanted to go, and I wanted Nicolas to see the campus.
N: It was great and… Oh, good grief. Now what …
R: Yes! It’s more of the nitty gritty of life.
N: What “grit” is it now?
R: It’s the ridiculously frustrating parts of travel. And nothing says “frustrating” like rental car companies. Especially when you get into the car, close the door, and your back window shatters, and they won’t send someone out to help you. Instead, they tell you to go to the nearest rental office, “any office,” they say. But when you get to the office, THAT rental office doesn’t have any cars available, and every other rental office is now closed. So, you wait until morning and then drive the 2 hours back to the airport with garbage bags taped over your back window with rubber-duck-yellow duct tape to keep the rest of the glass from falling out, and you take the car back to where you originally rented it. Only for them to tell you that THEY don’t have anything available either. So you tell them that you are not leaving the rental counter until you have a vehicle! (Rachel finally inhales)
N: Are you done?
R: Grit!
N: Okay then… So, we flew into Minneapolis where we met Rachel’s roommates.
R: It was such an experience to be back on campus. It was weird and wonderful all at the same time. I’m so glad we could all be there together again. ❤️ 💙

Minnesota Lynx vs. New York Liberty. Total nail-biter!

N: We also went to a Minnesota Lynx women’s professional basketball game.
R: I loved it! When they lost to New York Liberty in NY, I couldn’t believe how disappointed I was. How could I care that much about a team that three days earlier I had never even heard of! 😆
Gustavus 1992

Gustavus 2024

R: Look at those Gustavus pictures. It’s like no time has passed. ☺️
N: The 2024 picture looks a lot farther away than the 1992 picture. 🤔
R: Not important… Let’s move on…
